The fireplace has been a source of much frustration, from the time Mr Thomas started ripping into it until a few weeks ago when it still wasn’t finished… Here’s what it looked like before with its ugly gray tile and very blank wall.

It’s been well over a month since my last post. I am seriously slacking. Several things have happened, so to keep everybody coming back, I’m only going to post a few pics at a time :) Plus, I need more blog posts!!
After 9 years, Bryan finally sold his truck.
And bought a brand new one after MUCH deliberation.
It’s so nice to ride in a smooth truck that doesn’t squeal every time it slows down. I love the new truck!
Bryan pointed out to me after reading my last post that the guest room is NOT the only room that’s finished. The pantry, the laundry room, our closet, and our bedroom (except for a couple minor things) are all finished. So my bad!!!

We had some friends coming over who needed a place to stay that night, so we rushed to finish it:
A pic with furniture will come later. But it’s done! This is the only room in the house that is 100% done. It’s a great sense of accomplishment :)
We got it all completed just in time to have people over!
It’s the first morning without Teuta, and it was really strange to not have her here to tell her all about my weekend and hear about hers. But I opened up my desk drawer and found a note:

In the lab, we have a pretty good turnover of personnel. Students graduate, techs find jobs with better pay, postdocs move on to bigger and better things. Usually it’s only 1-2 people a year who leave. But this year is WAY different… 2 of the girls are leaving within 2 weeks of each other, and more are leaving over the next few months. Last Saturday, we had everybody over to the house to celebrate with Maria and Teuta one last time. Maria will still be around, just working at Baptist, and Teuta and her husband are going back to Croatia. We only teared up once…

We’re all going to miss these girls, but the friendships we have formed go beyond just working together and sharing office space. I wish them all the best in the world!!
