Vicksburg

I misplaced the card reader to transfer pics to my computer sometime over the weekend, but I found it this morning!

Saturday, after I finally got off work, Bryan and I drove over to Vicksburg to see the flooding. We definitely weren’t the only ones! I’ve never seen so many people in Vicksburg! We parked close to where Washington St is closed because of water over the road.

Then we walked up the hill to the train station.

Ate at Duff’s Tavern. The waitstaff there were definitely tired of seeing all the tourists. They seem harried and ready to be off! But the food was amazing. Bryan loves it when I pull out the camera…

Then we went to the Military Park. Bryan had never been there. I have bad memories of it. My coach in college would have us out there by 6am at least once a week to run. If you’ve never been there, there are unbelievable hills. These hills just go on and on and on and on… And most of them are pretty steep. So while this park doesn’t hold my fondest memories, it was fun to drive through it and actually get to stop and check out the monuments. The overlooks of the river are great there. It was amazing to see how much the river had expanded.

This is Anderson Tully. So far, their levee is holding.

In the last picture, those are trees, not bushes, in the water at the bottom of the hill.

Tball

I can’t believe my nephew is old enough to be playing T-ball! Last night, we went to see him play. I think he’s more ready than anybody for the season to be over, but he’s sticking with it!! The coaches pitch to the kids the first few times, and if they don’t hit it, then they pull out the Tee. Hunter told his dad that he needed a new coach because his coach just couldn’t make that ball hit his bat! He was so much fun to watch!

Grilling out

Last night, Bryan and I grilled shish-ka-bobs. Well, more accurately, I chopped veggies, and Bryan grilled. We even had some pineapple on the grill. He finally agreed to a picture, and the picture shows just how excited he was to be posing. :)

Pepsi Pops

Last Friday was Pepsi Pops. For anyone who doesn't know what that is - the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra plays in a park on the Reservoir. I would say that 80% of the people who attend are there by boat. I'm really not even sure that there's anywhere to sit in the park. But anyway, Bryan and I went on the pontoon boat. We picked up some shrimp and ate them on the front of the boat as the sun was setting. After dark, there was a firework show. And I LOVE fireworks!

Definitely not the best picture of me ever taken...

This is the orchestra. From WAY away.

Baby Shower and Mother’s Day

On Saturday, I helped host a baby shower for a coworker’s wife. We all had a great time, and Lee and Josie got some great stuff! I stole Morgan’s idea for making a banner and made one myself for baby Cambell.

Lee and Josie have an almost-3-year-old who is absolutely adorable with his big brown eyes. Caleb got so excited when I started taking the banner down because he just knew I was going to give him those balloons he had been eyeing all day!!

Sunday, we all got together at Mom’s. Miss Ella Carter walked in looking like a little diva while Hunter played with his motorcycle.
